Toronto, October 31, 2026. Qatom co-founder and CMO Susana Khan presented Tejido at Building Our Future in AI: The Latin@ Summit, Halloween Edition. The summit was organised by Alianza Latina with BrainTrainr and Hispanotech, and its final showcase took place at OCAD University.
Tejido starts from two questions every donor asks: how do I help, and how do I know it got there? More than 680,000 Venezuelan children and youth need help after two earthquakes, according to UNICEF. Tejido gives the diaspora and their allies two ways to respond: give money, or give their skills.
How it works
- A person gives $1, $5 or $20. Or an expert pledges to match gifts with their time, at a ratio and hourly value they choose.
- An agent takes the gift through open seller skills, with no keys held in the app.
- Qatom's agentic commerce engine settles it instantly through RBC or Bank of America.
- A proof hash for every gift appears on tejido.net, live, for anyone to check.
Tejido never holds the money. At the summit, gifts went straight to the charity. In the pilot, a gift waits in escrow with Qatom's banking partners until the partner, the vendor and a community witness confirm. Confirmed volunteer hours then become time credits on Qatom, which cities, agencies, employers and universities can sponsor. Donors never pay for credits.
Responsible by design
- AI agents draft matches, transcriptions and bookings.
- A person approves every match and every release, and Qatom records it on the audit trail.
- Volunteers never contact children; anything involving a child goes through mandated agencies.
- People stay private; the money stays public.
- Nothing moves to Venezuela until legal review clears.
- Tejido is nonpartisan.
At the summit, gifts went to the Canadian Venezuelan Engagement Foundation, a registered charity in Montreal, and were not tax receipted to donors. Susana, who is not an engineer, built Tejido in 48 hours with AI agents on Qatom's open seller skills.
What's next
Tejido's pilot adds AI that turns a voice note into a translated, costed need. After that comes a matching agent that suggests experts by skill, language and time zone, never by name or origin. A person approves every match. The 90-day goal is one partner organisation, 100 expert hours and one sponsor.
"Estamos lejos, pero no estamos separados. We are far, but we are not apart."Susana Khan
